Description

Handmade wood bowl -turned on a 60 year-old woodworking lathe. Wood species is Elm with knot adding character. All finishes applied are deemed food safe (boiled linseed oil, beeswax, shellac) Wood was obtained from a log of a downed tree that was destined for a landfill if not for rescuing the raw material to turn into a useful, artful bowl. The bowl is a twice turned bowl - it was turned as an oversize green (wet) wood bowl & then dried down to stabilize the material. It is then turned a second time to its finished state. Wood Bowl
