An exceptional, fine & impressive antique George III English sterling silver lady's mug. This exceptional antique George III sterling silver mug has a plain baluster form onto a circular domed spreading foot. The surface of this antique mug is plain & unembellished, encircled with a plain applied moulded border to the upper rim. This lady's mug is fitted with an impressive opposing scroll handle with a leaf decorated thumbpiece & scrolling lower terminal. This antique mug was crafted by the renowned female silversmith Hester Bateman. Condition This 1780s silver mug is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality & in exceptional condition. Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the mug are very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver. It has a gold wash on the interior.
