Capacity: 400 Milliliters Dimensions (approx): Height: 8.5cm Diameter: 9cm Volume: 400ml, 13.5 fl oz (all sizes & capacities are approximate) A firing temperature of 1230 degrees centigrade makes these objects strong & durable. The mug is dishwasher & microwave safe, although I recommend hand washing whenever possible as it is kinder to the glaze. This beautiful abstract painting mug is wheel-thrown, then hand-manipulated, hand-decorated, then bisque & glaze-fired with stoney, brambly, simple yet very expressive texture on the outside. The handcrafted form, in combination with the flecked clay & manually applied actions using variety of crafting tools, & coloured clay help me achieve the unique what i feel is concrete like texture & feel of this ceramic object. in the end to be lifted & unified with beautiful colour flow created trough gestural abstraction painting style. I really, really love working with this particular clay! When it is fired the brown flecking invisible initially gently emerges through the coloured clay slip & glaze used to decorate the piece. One thing I really enjoy is the changing character of the flecked & coloured surfaces in different kinds of light direct & indirect sun, different times of day, natural, artificial, etc. The rich variety of looks provided by the changing light gives pieces like this an additional character. I'd definitely be curious about your own observations. Please note: each mug is handmade and, by virtue of the nature of the processes involved in its creation, unique. Therefore, the mug you receive may vary slightly from the pictures & some 'makers marks' may be present.
