1924. Theatrical poster, designed by Aubrey Hammond in 1922. Quarto-sized sheet from scarce first edition of E.McKnight Kauffer's book, 'The Art of the Poster: Its Origin, Evolution & Purpose'. Published by Cecil Palmer, London (1924) with engraving by the Sun Engraving Co... Printed on coated paper of a good weight, single side only. Measurement is for sheet size, to include image & border. Image size c.8x5ins.. Unmounted. Light sunning to edges with light creasing to lower part of sheet. Please note photos 2 & 3 are for information as to source & do not form part of the sale. This is a genuine 1924 print & not a reproduction. A copy of the original lithographic poster, printed in Paris, is held in the Victoria & Albert Museum Collections. Hammond studied at the Byam Shaw School of Art & the Acadmie Julian, Paris. He taught commercial & theatrical art at the Westminster School of Art. Our usual packaging: Beautifully presented in cello bag backed by acid-free card.
