As a child, I always loved San Francisco. The bustling city, the stunning architecture, & the endless opportunities for adventure captivated my heart. Growing up, I never once thought about leaving. It was my home, & it always would be. But life has a funny way of throwing curveballs, & when my husband was in a lot of pain & received some bad advice, we made the difficult decision to sell our house & move away. I didn't want to go, but I knew it was what was best for him. Little did I know that it would be the biggest mistake of our lives. For years, I longed to go back to San Francisco. The memories of my childhood & the years I spent there lingered in my mind. But we were living out of the country now, & I couldn't even qualify for a mortgage to buy a new home. That's when I had an idea. I've always loved photography, & I had some experience taking pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge. So I decided to create a business out of it, hoping that it would allow me to visit San Francisco as often as I might like. One evening, I drove all the way out to Rodeo Beach to photograph the sunset. It was a long & winding drive, but I was determined to add another beautiful Northern California shot to my portfolio. But when I got there, I was disappointed to find the habitual fog bank that lives off the coast had rolled in. The sun would only dip into the fog, disappearing with no color or drama at all. I headed back to my hotel, feeling downcast. But then something amazing happened. As I drove along the road that passes the Marin County Headlands overlook over the Golden Gate Bridge, the sky lit up with the watercolor photos of pinks & purples & blues. It was stunningly beautiful, & I knew I had to capture it. I got out of the car & set up my camera, taking as many shots as I could. & when I looked at the pictures later, I knew I had captured something truly special.
