Description
This pot has been glazed with iron & so has a some what matt finish. It is watertight, perfect for flowers fresh or dried. I enjoy pottery with downward lines; it is a challenge to get them neat, but really draws out the shape of the body. On this little one there is a strong shoulder & small base. There is a slight neck, so it should hold & not allow the flowers to go to crazy, flopping out all over the place. I am an artisan potter by trade & the apprentice of my mother. My pottery is made on a traditional treadle wheel, from red terracotta clay. The pots I make are often inspired by history, though the exact era & culture varies with whatever I am interested in at the time. Each has unique character & imperfections; please don't let that surprise you. The odd pimple in it's complexion only makes it more relatable to me. I must stress that I am inspired by history, but I am an artist myself & my work is not perfect replica. There's no need to be shy - message if you have any questions. Archaeologists: yes, I would love to see photos of the sherds you have found. That being said I do not use a mobile phone, so cannot promise an instant response. If you would like to see what I have been creating recently, I keep a public journal on facebook under the name Karn Kreft. Please note: The film is merely & example of my work & does not feature this exact pot! Parcels are by far the least ecological & economical part of my business. Plastic bubble wrap is undeniably the best way to transport pottery, mine is recycled from friends & family - this is why sometimes it is a bit dusty, or has irrelevant stickers on it. If you live many miles away over the ocean, I am sorry to say I cannot offer free postage. You will see this if you check out though. I have only been selling my wares since January, but already I have had such interesting customers. Thank you very much to everyone (curious window shoppers included) for the support I have received since opening. Vase in Terracotta & Black Iron Oxide | No. -92
