A lovely Victorian carved Walnut 'Prie Dieu' side chair with barley twist uprights & beautifully carved back & turned front legs. in good antique condition, the chair is solid & all joints are sound, the beautifully detailed classical carving to the rear is crisp & intact. Unusually, it has it's original wool-work tapestry rear panel, in good condition. This is beautifully worked with an intricate design in faded blues & red against a neutral background. It has details in deeply tufted wool. The stuff-over seat has been recently re-webbed, & has been recovered many years ago a corded velvet to match the back. This is clean & tear free with the odd spot mark. There is a small area of broken carving to beneath the right hand 'wing' of the back & the front left leg has some damage to it's rear, which doesn't show from the front. This would look lovely as an accent chair in a hallway or bedroom.
