Gorgeous mid century, or earlier, storage for sewing / knitting bits & bobs. Also perfect for holding cosmetics or jewellery. Possibly hand-crafted with curved corner detail, a rather funky sprung-catch closing action & a cute removable tray with 4 sections. Unlike other sewing boxes, the opening is a slide mechanism so you don't need to take everything off the top to access inside. (Though it does 'spring' open so we wouldn't advise leaving a cup of tea on top when opening!). Unsure of the wood - it's not too heavy so unlikely to be solid teak/oak etc. It is good & sturdy but has expected age-related small nicks & marks - the worst being a patch of missing varnish in one corner (see last picture).
