Description

A unique, practical, blue soap dish handcrafted in the Lake District; inspired by the natural landscape. The soap dish is approximately 10 cm (W) x 14 cm (L) with a depth of about 1.5 cm. (Approximately 4 x 5.5 x 0.6 inches). The ridges in the dish will allow your soap to 'breathe'. THE HANDCRAFTED PROCESS: Various blue artisan glass powders (finely crushed glass) were fused into a sheet of white opalescent glass to create a water effect. The result is reminiscent of the colour of Lake Windermere during a storm - ranging from dark to light blue with a hint of turquoise. This glass was cut (by hand) into strips, then placed on a base of crystal clear artisan glass with contrasting strips of pale sapphire blue transparent glass. The assembled piece was fired in the kiln over a 26 hour period. The glass was heated up & cooled down very slowly in order to strengthen it & ensure its durability. The fused panel was then placed on top of a ceramic mould & fired once more in order to shape the glass into a ridged soap dish. Soap not included; for display purposes only. PACKAGING: All items will be securely wrapped in bubble wrap & posted in a well padded box. Although not always feasible, whenever possible, I attempt to reuse packaging in order to reduce the environmental impact. Orders for multiple items with a combined weight over 2 kg will be sent in separate parcels. INTERNATIONAL POSTAGE All orders will be sent via Royal Mail (Tracked).
