Description
1960s Red Baron WWI Poster, Manfred von Richthofen, WW1 fighters, Fokker DRI Triplane, Flying Circus, by RH Williams, wall art decor This is a vintage 1960s poster of the Red Baron, Manfred von Richthofen the German WW1 flying ace Der Rote Kampfflieger & his Flying Circus. Dimensions: 17.5 in x 23 in (44 cm x 58 cm) Note: there is a slight bend mark, see photos. Manfred von Richthofen was a fighter pilot with the German Air Force during World War I. He is considered the ace-of-aces of the war, being officially credited with 80 air combat victories. Originally a cavalryman, Richthofen transferred to the Air Service in 1915, becoming one of the first members of fighter squadron Jagdstaffel 2 in 1916. He quickly distinguished himself as a fighter pilot, & during 1917 became the leader of Jasta 11. Later he led the larger fighter wing Jagdgeschwader 1, better known as The Flying Circus or Richthofen's Circus because of the bright colours of its aircraft, & perhaps also because of the way the unit was transferred from one area of Allied air activity to another - moving like a travelling circus, & frequently setting up in tents on improvised airfields. By 1918, Richthofen was regarded as a national hero in Germany, & respected by his enemies. Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear & tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, & edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm. These posters are sent as unframed. They will be sent in a cardboard tube for protection. See the FAQ section for more information on shipping, tracking & insurance. 1960S Red Baron Wwi Poster, Manfred Von Richthofen, Ww1 Fighters, Fokker Dri Triplane, Flying Circus, By Rh Williams, Wall Art Decor
