This exhibition poster of The Bucklersbury Pavement, Mansion House, London is from the Museum of London & shows the ancient Roman mosaic that was discovered in the 1869 in Victorian London. Text is on the reverse side. Dimensions: 30.3 in x 20.1 in (77 cm x 51 cm) Condition: pinholes, some rough edges, see photos. The Bucklersbury Pavement is a 2,000 year old romain mosaic floor that was originally discovered in London in 1869. It was a great sensation at the time, & has remained one of the most popular exhibits at the Museum of London. It belonged to a house which once fronted onto Newgate Street in the heart of the Roman city. It was an absolute sensation when it was discovered & remains stunningly beautiful with vibrant colours & intricate details. What is special about exhibition & gallery posters is that they are an affordable way of getting good, unique art on the walls, as although it is not an artists original, neither is it something that has been mass reproduced. Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear & tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, & edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the charm. These posters are sent as unframed. They are delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
