This David Hockney exhibition poster is from the Galerie Kammer in Hamburg, Germany for a 1981 exhibition featuring Celia in black dress & red stockings from 1973. His muse in the drawing is Celia Birtwell who is a British textile designer & fashion designer, known for her distinctive bold, romantic & feminine designs, which are influenced by Picasso & Matisse, & the classical world. She was well known for her prints which epitomised the 1960s/70s. Dimensions: 33.5 in x 24,5 in (90 cm x 64 cm) David Hockney is an English painter, draftsman, printmaker, stage designer, & photographer. As an important contributor to the pop art movement of the 1960s, he is considered one of the most influential British artists of the 20th century. What is special about exhibition & gallery posters is that they are an affordable way of getting good, unique art on the walls, as although it is not an artists original, neither is it something that has been mass reproduced. Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear & tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, & edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the charm. These posters are sent as unframed.
