This an original World Cup poster of the Gijon stadium from Spain's 1982 World Cup Football showing an old twine goal net. Copa del Mundo de Futbol - Espana 82 Design by Grard Titus-Carmel Dimensions: 37.5 in x 23.5 in (95 cm x 60 cm) Condition: light foxing throughout, see photos. On the edge of the poster it reads, G Titus-Carmel Societe de production des affiches Maeght, Paris The 1982 FIFA World Cup was the 12th FIFA World Cup, a quadrennial football tournament for men's senior national teams, & was played in Spain from 13 June to 11 July 1982. The tournament was won by Italy, who defeated West Germany 3-1 in the final held in the Santiago Bernabu Stadium in the capital, Madrid. It was Italy's third World Cup title, but their first since 1938. The defending champions, Argentina, were eliminated in the second round (finishing third & last in their group). Algeria, Cameroon, Honduras, Kuwait & New Zealand made their first appearances in the finals. Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear & tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, & edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm. These posters will be delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
