Virgin's Miami from the Virgin Atlantic aviation advertising in the late 1980s & early 1990s, Brian Robson was commissioned to do a series of prints for Virgin Atlantic, each one to depict a Virgin Atlantic destination & contain 'the scarlet lady'. in this instance she is holding the ball in the middle of a San Franciscro 49ers game against the Miami Dolphins. Printed for Virgin Atlantic Dimensions: 19.5 in x 27.5 in (50 cm x 70 cm) Virgin Atlantic, a trading name of Virgin Atlantic Airways Limited & Virgin Atlantic International Limited, is a British airline with its head office in Crawley, England. The airline was established in 1984 as British Atlantic Airways, & was originally planned by its co-founders Randolph Fields & Alan Hellary to fly between London & the Falkland Islands. Soon after changing the name to Virgin Atlantic Airways, Fields sold his shares in the company after disagreements with Richard Branson over the management of the company. The maiden flight from Gatwick Airport to Newark International Airport took place on 22 June 1984. The team plays its home games at Hard Rock Stadium, located in the northern suburb of Miami Gardens, Florida. The Dolphins are the oldest professional sports team in Florida. Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear & tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, & edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm.
