2002 Wimbledon Tennis Poster, The Championships by John Davies in 2001, All England Lawn Tennis Club, Centrecourt, wall art This is a Wimbledon Tennis poster, with art by John Davies painted in 2001. It shows Wimbledon at "The Championships", it is best known as the venue for the Wimbledon Championships, the only Grand Slam tennis event still held on grass. Lleyton Hewitt, the World No.1, defeated David Nalbandian in the final in straight sets to win his second Grand Slam title & first Wimbledon title. He became the first Australian since Pat Cash in 1987 to win Wimbledon. Venus Williams was unsuccessful in her title defence, being defeated in the final by her younger sister Serena in the women's final. Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear & tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, & edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm. When framed these colourful & detailed posters, with vibrant colours can become a centre piece for any room, to remind us of a simpler time. These posters are sent as unframed.
