Description
Vintage Shell Guide to August Trees Poster, botanical school education wall art by S.R. Badmin 1950s This is an original 1955 poster from the Shell Oil Company to explain what British trees look like in August. It explains the types of trees in the picture, & identifies & describes what each is like. It is from a series that show trees at different points of the year. You can be sure of Shell, the key to the Countryside Stanley Roy Badmin was an English painter & etcher particularly notable for his book illustrations & landscapes. Some of Badmin's most well-known work was commissioned by Shell; he worked on advertising art & book illustration for the popular Shell Guides series during the 1950s. Note black trim at top & bottom for hanging. Because of the age of these posters, & their use in the classroom, there are areas of wear & tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, & edges can be hidden by mats. When framed these colourful & detailed posters, with vibrant colours can become a centre piece for any room, to remind us of a simpler time. This poster will be rolled up & delivered in a cardboard tube for protection. See the FAQ for more information on shipping, tracking & insurance options.
