Description
Vintage Tube London Underground Poster, 1980s Travelcard, authentic London history, travel & tourism tourist wall art If you're looking for something authentic from the travel history of London, then look no further. These authentic Tube (London Underground) posters are from the 1980s, & were used to advertise the new Travelcard in the ticket offices & on the walls of the London Underground. You can see where they have been removed from the wall, & in some places where they have been glued on with a brush. Fair condition, but dripping with authenticity. Note the tear at the top. "A ticket every day is money down the tube" The Travelcard was introduced as the third in a series of major fare revisions that had started in 1981. The introduction of the Travelcard was intended to increase patronage on London Underground & London Buses, particularly during less busy times & to speed up the boarding of bus services. Before the introduction of the Travelcard, tickets for the London Underground were purchased on a 'point-to-point' basis between two stations, either as a single, return or season ticket; & were priced according to distance travelled. Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear & tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, & edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm. When framed these colourful & detailed posters, with vibrant colours can become a centre piece for any room, to remind us of a simpler time. These posters are sent as unframed. They will be delivered in a cardboard tube for protection. See the FAQ for more information on shipping, tracking & insurance options.
