Beautiful ceramic candle holder blue raku on a piece of wood, entirely made by hand in our laboratory in Val Tidone near Piacenza, Italy. When the dusk falls & the light dots that are reflected on the wall create a very romantic atmosphere. You can 'use with tealight , citronella candles to ward off mosquitoes or even with incense cones to perfume your home ... the smoke will come out from the holes, creating a very special effect. sphere h = 3,93 in diam = 4,33 in piece of wood +/- 4,72/5,11 in x 0,78 in TECHNIQUE: ll Raku is an ancient Japanese technique, literally means joy of living. The first firing is performed between 850 o C & 1000 o C; the second firing, the Raku firing, takes place after the enamelling of the piece in a special oven where the temperature rises up to 920 o - 960 o C. At this point the piece is extracted from the oven with special tongs & put in a metal container containing combustible material (leaves, newspaper, sawdust ...) that causes the reduction. The object is then extracted from the container & submerged in water & cleaned up by the signs of combustion to bring out the iridescence & luster glazes. So each piece is always unique. MAINTENANCE: Hand wash only, do not put in the dishwasher or in the microwave. SHIPPING: I will ship the items from Italy within 3-5 business day after payment.
