Antique Georgian Mahogany Chest of 5 Drawers A lovely period chest of drawers. We are delighted to bring to you the finest example of a rare Georgian (circa 1830) 5 deep descending drawer chest of drawers in fine quality Mahogany which is completely original & ideal for any period property. This stunning chest of drawers features its original boxwood & ebony simple inlays & cross-bandings to the top frieze. This chest is in a lovely condition featuring its original beautiful wax polished finish with its lovely deep mahogany colour. This chest features cock-beaded edges (none of which is missing) which frames the stunning mahogany drawer fronts & all of the drawers have original finely turned knobs. The finely dovetailed drawers are in good condition, the drawers are smoothly operating & are very clean inside. The chest of drawers stands on its beautifully shaped typical Georgian corner bracket feet & there are no loose joints or wobbles. We have restored this chest by making replacement feet from reclaimed mahogany exactly as they would have been originally. The drawers have also had all of the drawer runners replaced & rebuilt so now have little to no wear & do not drop when opened. The chest of drawers has been carefully cleaned & waxed, maintaining its original patina whilst giving a lovely natural sheen. This lovely restored chest of drawers is ready for a new home & good for many more years to come. Please note; This item is in fantastic condition for its age as shown by the photographs below. Being an antique item there are obviously marks, scratches, dents & some old repairs here & there as expected with anything of this age. The left side does have an area where a previous owner has added a small piece of mahogany as an honest repair as show in the pictures. However, we feel that these points are which adds to its charm & character to a piece.
