Description
Beautiful old heavy stoneware crock, produced by the Moira Pottery works, established in 1922 & I believed it ceased production in 2007. The factory produced utilitarian stoneware crocks, pitchers & other kitchen ware. The company used an oval mark & the one on my crock is faded but the style of this crock is without a doubt made by this company. Dripping is the fat recovered from roasting meat, once cooled it solidifies to a white paste that is often reused in cooking or eaten cold as a spread. This crock is in lovely condition with just minor manufacturing imperfections, including some underglaze marks inside the pot. This is perfect as a herb pot or perhaps for storing candles or cutlery.
