These beautiful mugs are a first-time offering for us! They are made by indigenous Zapotec artists working around the village of Santa Maria Atzompa. Each one has a unique one-of-a-kind design etched & painted around it. This listing is for a single mug. We have two available. This is a unique glaze that gives a scratchy finish to the pottery, providing an interesting texture as well. There are places where the glaze hasn't covered the black clay beneath, giving it a really interesting finish. 5 tall, 4 wide, 6 wide at handle We only have one of each of these pieces, although we do have similarly finished shot glasses available. Pottery from Santa Maria Atzompa has been around since the time of Monte Alban in the 7th - 9th century. To this day, about 90% of the residents are involved in pottery-production for their living. These are some of the most skilled artisans to be found anywhere. We hope to bring more pieces from this family of artists in the future. We make sure that we purchase everything using Fair Trade practices. We do not haggle with artists or vendors, & we do not ask for volume discounts.
