Vintage lusterware tea set of 3 includes a full sized teapot with knob lid, a creamer & a sugar bowl with knob lid. Hand painted bucolic scene of a swan swimming in a lake with a house, large tree & trees in the distance on the banks. Peachy orange sunset background. Blue lusterware rings at the top & on the lid in shades of periwinkle blue. The back sides of all have the same periwinkle blue in a thin stripe across the middle. Wide gold detailing at the front side only of the double handles of the sugar bowl, the single handle of the teapot & and single handle of the creamer. The handles are fashioned in an interesting old fashioned scissor or monocle shape & comfortable to hold. All lid knobs are gold. Highly decorative. I have additional matching pieces of this set. As is often the case with these pieces manufactured in the 1940's through the 1950's, there are manufacturing flaws in the form of errors in the application of hand painted designs, missed brush marks of glaze, & some small areas of wear. in particular are two areas of medium gold wear, one to the knob of the sugar bowl lid & the other to the top front half of the teapot handle. Made in Japan printed on underside of each piece. Very pretty & in excellent condition.
