Vintage silver plated Art Deco serving tray or letter tray. It is marked with various marks on the underside: 'W.S & S', a 'signpost' sign, 'EPNS A1' & 'Made in England'. It is made by one of two silversmiths of the 20th century: William Suckling & Sons of Birmingham, or William R. Shirtcliff & Son of Sheffield. Both firms had near identical marks so it is impossible to say with certainty which firm made this particular tray. It likely dates to the 1920s-40s based on its design. That it is made of 'A1' silver plate indicates that it was engineered with the highest quality silver plating. It is a long thin tray, with the main platform surrounded by a slightly raised edge in order to keep letters, drinks, or small plates in place. It stands on 4 wee silver plated bun feet. It has some tarnishing to the silver plate, concurrent with age (see photos), but shines up nicely with a silver polish. Ideal for holding or serving drinks at a party, for letters or correspondence in an office, or for serving small plates of food. Size: -39.9cm wide -16.3cm deep -2cm high Gift wrap -We wrap all items in complementary brown paper & string. I can also supply a complementary gift tag (see personalisation option). I can leave this blank for you to complete, or I can write in a gift inscription. All gift tags are 5 x 10 cm / 2 x 3.94 inch kraft paper tags to match the complementary wrapping paper. Packing -All items are simply wrapped in brown paper & string (because these are a few of my favourite things). The items are then carefully covered with several layers of bubble wrap before being placed in lined & padded cardboard boxes. -I try to source my packing materials as sustainably as possible. I reuse boxes, packing nuts & bubble wrap whenever I can. Any packing materials that I source outside this (such as bubble wrap or boxes) are biodegradable or recyclable. Postage -UK: Shipping is free to addresses within the UK. I use Royal Mail's 'Second Class Signed For' service for most items sent within the UK. These should arrive in a few days but do get in touch if you would like quicker shipping. Orders too large for this will be sent by another delivery agency, such as Parcelforce 48 hour. -EU/International: For orders outside the UK, I use Royal Mail's 'International Tracked & Signed' which gives you peace of mind & allows you to track your item.
