Etsy - ManorOnTheMarch Vintage Woods Ware Mayfair Pattern | Brown Version Tea Slop Bowl
Description
A vintage Woods ware afternoon tea slop bowl in Mayfair pattern (brown version) dating from the period 1917 to 1930 although this pattern dates from 1911. Made by Wood & Son(s) (Ltd) Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. Once an essential part of an English afternoon tea set the slop bowl was used to empty the used tea cups of cold tea or dregs before refilling. Nowadays it makes an attractive small serving bowl, open sugar bowl or display item. The bowl is decorated with an exotic pheasant & foliage. The 'pie crust' crinkly rim is a red brown colour. This bowl measures approximately 8.5 cm high & 13 cm in diameter. It has a manufacturing flaw in the interior with a small chip on the side of the foot rim - both shown in the photographs.
