This large vase started out on my wheel here in my Pittsboro studio. It is 14.5 inches tall & glazed with several of my crystalline glazes to give this Zuma blue gradient. The inside is glazed with a clear liner glaze. All of the crystalline glazes that I use are original glazes invented myself. Each crystalline glazed piece is unique in that they cannot be duplicated. The crystals are never the same from one piece to another. I use high fire porcelain, & fire to a peak temperature of 2350oF - aka cone 11. What this means is that the porcelain is fully vitrified & watertight even without the glazes. Because of the way that I fire & the glazes that I use, all of my work is fully functional - watertight, lead free, dishwasher safe, & microwave safe. Zuma Blue Crystalline Glazed Vase
