Description
This vase is a one of a kind piece that would look great holding flowers. It has many different colors despite only having one glaze applied (orange/beige, smokey grey). Can be used on a kitchen/dining table, by a window, or near an entry-way. Additional Production Info - Handmade Flower Vase made with a stoneware clay. After this vase was wheel thrown on the pottery wheel, excess clay was trimmed off to weigh less & to define the shape. After trimming, a thin coating of white clay (white slip) was applied onto the surface. Then ribbons of the white slip were carved out, leaving the swirls & stripes in the vase. A shino glaze was applied to the piece. Shino has many different color depending on the thickness of the application & of how the flames & smoke touch the piece in the kiln. Colors range from a orange/white, to a beige, to a smokey grey. There is a section of the piece where the flame hit repeatedly, resulting in a smokey gray scar (picture 1).
