Description
A stylish mid-century set of two demitasses cups & saucers, a small jug or creamer & a sugar bowl, made in England in the 1960's by J&G Meakin Studio in their Maori design. The pattern on this set is in brown, tan & black, with black saucers. It was produced from 1966 until the late 1970s. J&G Meakin were earthenware manufacturers in Hanley, England from the mid 19th century making tableware. Their Studio range dated from 1964. The height of the jug to the spout is 7cms (2.75), the height of the bowl is 6cms (2.3), & the cups are 8cms (3.2) high. The set is in overall good condition with little obvious signs of use. However, there is slight wear around the saucer rims & some tiny scratches on parts of the pattern. This china should not be put in a dishwasher or immersed in water for very long. A striking vintage midcentury coffee set for use or display.
