This earthenware mug was made from a wheel thrown cylinder & a chunky, hand-rolled, coil handle. When it came to glazing, I chose to juxtapose the clean, contemporary form with a loose, quirky folky design. I hand-painted the flower pattern using majolica techniques & the interior was glazed with a solid pastel blue. The muted pastel flowers & mossy-brown background are fun & playful without being too loud & the gold luster dots on the handle bring just a touch of sparkle. A thoughtful gift for any plant lover. Please note, this mug should not be microwaved due to the metallic gold luster on the handle. Dimension: height: 3 1/4 diameter: 3 1/2 (top opening) holds 8 ounces...with some extra room for cream :) No circle is perfectly round, no line in perfectly straight; my goal is to celebrate the work of human hands in every piece.
