Description
We are delighted to bring to you this highly unusual metamorphic mahogany Victorian child's high chair / rocker. This piece is constructed from mahogany with a pressed wooden design on the seat & to the back of the chair in the shape of a shield. The chair has bevelled edging & for such a functional piece of furniture is highly detailed. The piece would have been pride of place within a nursery setting. The wheels & mechanism to transform the item from a chair to a rocking chair are all in good working order. There is a small circular disc on the back of the chair that reads Patent Carriage Chair, No. 3088, 2nd August 1866 which helps us to date the age of the item. Due to the age of the piece & safety legislation we would recommend this as a decorative piece only.
