Description

This soup bowl in red lacquer by Japanese woodworker Tomoaki Nakano is a beautiful vessel. First it's hand turned on a lathe before being sanded & polished. The next stage is the application of lacquer that is applied to the exterior of the vessel. Tomoaki focuses on applying thin layers leading up to a final thick layer to give a beautiful smooth finish. The red exterior pops out at you, possibly helped by the flowing shape of the vessel.
