This is one of the oldest, full colour complete maps of England & Ireland - with a unique twist: It shows all of the invasions & civil wars of England & Ireland since the conquest of the British Isles by the Normans in 1066. This intriguing & historically fascinating invasion map was put together masterfully by Cornelius Danckerts in 1676, but it's based on John Speed's original map of England & Ireland from 1611. For example, did you know there was the Battle of Barnet - part of the War of the Roses - in 1471? Or how about the Siege of Oxford in 1644? All of these conflicts & more are visible on this weird & wonderful invasion map of the British Isles. This map looks amazing at all sizes, from 12x16 inches (30x40cm) to 16x20 inches (40x50cm) & 18x24 (45x60cm). It looks truly beautiful at larger sizes like 24x36 inches (60x90cm) & beyond. I can print this map at sizes up to 70 inches wide - 175cm. Please get in touch if you're looking for larger, customised maps or different framing options. The model in the listing images is holding the 24x18 inch (60x45cm) version of this map. This old map was hand coloured over 400 years ago and, as you can see, is still in amazing condition for a map of this age. Many of the towns, villages & cities of England, Wales & Ireland are already clearly visible in this map. I won't list every town, but suffice it to say there's every county capital, many seaside towns, & many more in between. Ireland was rather oddly shaped back in 1605, but all of the major towns & cities are already visible - Cork, Dublin, Belfast, etc. Scotland is just about visible at the top of the map - but only just. & of course, Wales & all of its towns are clearly visible. You might be wondering what Brecknock is... well, it's the archaic form of Brecon! You can order the map itself, or you can order a framed version. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that really makes our maps pop out when on a wall. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame. We use super-clear acrylic (perspex/acrylite) in our frames - it's less reflective than glass & better for
