For sale here is this fantastic original vintage German 1960s Bartholomew cocktail Armchair. Original condition. DESCRIPTION, This fantastic looking mid century armchair was made in Germany sometime in the 1960s we bought it in Hamburg last month. This very stylish chair is typical of the style & design from this German era of the 1960s. The shape of the back flaring out from the bottom towards the top is the style known as a Bartholomew cocktail chair. One of the most popular chairs I sell, It is a classic cocktail chair design with open wooden arms, I personally think that this model of chair is the most comfortable chair that I sell. The colour of the wood is a nice mid brown honey colour & matches the legs all of the wood is in good condition. The fabric is all original & is a burnt orangey mid brown colour. You can see from the depth of the seat that there is a large spring mechanism in the seat which makes for a very comfortable chair. It is a fantastic looking mid century chair. Another nice design details is the Barcelona leg, they are splayed outwards,understated but a really effective way of lightening the whole chair. This style of chair are very fashionable at the moment, chairs from this period like these have become something of a style icon. CONDITION. As it is at the moment it is in good condition. It has one or two small issues, firstly the pile on the fabric is a little bit flat, probably to be expected after 60 years but I do have to point this out. Also there is a hole in the fabric behind the left arm (see picture 12) it looks like it might of sat rubbing up against a radiator over time this has left two small tears in the fabric. They could probably be improved by darning. (This has all been reflected in the price, perfect I ask 375 for this model.) The frame is very strong & sturdy & there is no damage to the main structure of the chairs, no woodworm, no wobbly arms or legs. All of the wood is in good condition. The fabric is odour free it has been cleaned. Finally I will add that it is very comfortable. the seat is sprung but firm & the shape of the back is very supportive.
