Etsy - OneBakerStreet Rare The Gleaner Girl Childs Nursery Ware Mug Red Transferware C 1830S
Description
This is one of our favourite nursery ware mugs, as we adore red transfer printed mugs, & the square ribbed handle is gem! This delightful, lightly potted mug originated in England, circa 1830. The little mug features a transfer printed design titled 'The Gleaner.' The design features a girl gleaning. Gleaning is the act of collecting leftover crops (wheat grain) from farmers' fields after harvesting. An absolute lifeline for many country folk of the 19th century.
