A fantastic salvaged set full of nostalgia & charm, this vintage science laboratory table & accompanying four bench stools carry the marks of their busy former life on pretty much every surface! Look carefully & you will find compass scratches, doodles & names etched into the wood. Although clean, we've taken great care not to remove too much of its history as this is, of course, a large part of its appeal. We absolutely love this set & its renovation has been done with thought & love. The table top is mahogany so a deeper, more forgiving. It's hard, resilient qualities that made it perfect for school-use will serve well in the home too. This would make a excellent, quirky island & / or breakfast bar in the modern kitchen. It was originally made to be used a great deal & it will stand up to whatever family life has to throw at it! You can find many more photos of this set at originalhomewares in the WOOD section. This is an original, salvaged set that is 'sold as seen'. It is in good, used condition. It's comprises of five separate pieces - 4 x wooden stools & 1 x school science bench. The bench table has been thoroughly cleaned & the mahogany table top has been sanded, oiled & polished. The four accompanying stools have been cleaned & a natural beeswax polish applied. Structurally all of the individual pieces are sound, solid & sturdy with no repairs visible. However, as you might expect with school furniture it comes with knocks, scribbles & scratches! We've deliberately not been too invasive with restoring these pieces, leaving many of the marks & drawings in place as we believe its part of its history & narrative. These were well-built, utilitarian constructions meant to take a lot of heavy wear & tear. The bench dates from the 1970's & looks to be similar to those produced for schools by McIntosh (although unfortunately as there is no longer a makers label we can't verify this).
