Description
This vase/vessel combines the elegant, polished beauty of true mahogany wood & the rustic texture of burlap. Mahogany is native to South & Central America as well as the islands of the Caribbean Sea. Few woods match the allure of mahogany, with it's deep, natural reds & flashes of gold chatoyance. The wood has a very fine, even texture. The burlap was set into a groove surrounding the piece giving it an additional contrasting visual interest. The vase is 4 inches tall, about 4 inches in diameter & has a 2 inch mouth. The burlap band is of an inch wide. The vase was given several coats of an oil finish. It has been polished & top coated with carnauba wax. The wood has a smooth, silky feel & sheen. This vase was made with the intentions of being a decorator piece or, perhaps, a dried flower container. It is not recommended for use with any foods & liquids would damage the piece.
