Rare four-piece antique silver plated tea set, consisting of matching teapot, water/coffee pot, sugar bowl, & creamer. The teapot & coffee/water pot have elegant bakelite handles to protect from the heat. All the items have a very unique hexagonal geometrical shape characteristic of art deco aesthetics. Made in Sheffield by Marples & Co., this set dates from the early twentieth century. It is a fabulous example of traditional design, which has great ornamental value & would stand out in any setting. This set shows normal signs of wear commensurate with age, including a couple of dings & a little wear to the plate, but remains in good condition overall. There is some tarnish inside the tea & coffee pots, & they may benefit from a clean before being put back into use. The set has been polished recently, & is ready to be displayed. Coffee / water jug: H20.5cm x W20cm x D11cm; Teapot: H13cm x W29cm x D13cm; Creamer: H11cm x W12cm x D6cm; Sugar bowl: H9.5cm x W19cm x D10cm. They have a combined weight of around 1700g.
