A major element of vintage objects are maps & posters, whether they're scientific posters, geographical maps, botany, biology or zoology charts, & if they're original, they're always distinctive pieces. in this sense, this old school poster on botany is a good example, with the title Gemination Grains - Natural History. It's an original school science poster, very old, of French origin, the year of issue has not been identified. It's a botany poster about the twinning of grains or seeds, showing the different stages of this process. The illustrations are very naturalistic, very rigorous & very detailed, & all of them are subtitled in French, which is the original language of the poster (see photos). in the top left-hand corner is a reference to the academic responsible for the poster: M. Gaston Bonnier. The poster is printed on paper which in turn is reinforced on the back with fabric, perhaps linen. At the ends there are two wooden beams on which the map is fixed, allowing it to be opened & closed conveniently. On the top bar we have the string to hang it on the wall, which also serves to tie it up when it's rolled up. On the back of the wooden beams, the poster is fixed to the wood by two large cards. Despite being very old, this school poster is in good vintage condition. However, I have to remind you that this map, being original & vintage, carries with it all the patina left by the wear & tear of time & use, which are very evident & very noticeable. The paper has yellowed, it has stains from humidity & light, & at the edges it's a little broken with folds & creases from handling (see detail photos). Even the fabric or linen on the back is very dark & stained from time & use, & above all from humidity. I'd like to point out that there are some darker stains on the top that seem to have darkened, perhaps due to the protection of the paper (see detail photos). The wood also shows wear, you can tell it's old from the type of treatment & the lack of gloss it shows. It's a very old piece & if the description & photos aren't enlightening enough, I can send other photos by message, just ask.
