Description
Thrown & glazed by yours truly, an educator obsessed with pottery! This piece is heavier than my normal cup: heavy base & strong, thick handle. Cup is 3 3/4 high & 4 in diameter. The cup weighs 1lb 0.35 oz & holds 23 ounces of water. The cup is using speckled clay so you will see the beautiful speckles lightly through the glaze & on the bottom of the mug. This piece is thrown on the pottery wheel. I then trim the base to add some detail & attach the handle. After the cup is dry, I clean it up & proceed to fire a first time in the kiln. After the cup as cooled, I add the underglaze detail (blue circles in this case) followed by overglaze. This is dipped in the greenish blue color, followed by many layers of blue on top which creates the gorgeous drip you see on this mug. This cup is microwave & dishwasher safe.
