Description
With the unusual name of Robinson Ransbottom Pottery (RRP), this periwinkle blue vase was typical of many of their offerings that displayed a natural theme. Produced in the 1940's. RRP was also known as Roseville Pottery Company but should not be confused with the more familiar Roseville pottery. RRP began in Roseville Ohio in 1900 & by 1916 was the largest producer of Stoneware in America. This is a great example of one of their many lines of pottery exhibiting a floral motif. Patterned after the popular American garden staple, the stylized periwinkle representation is found in clusters encompassing the entire base. The eared handles on either side balance the piece having seemingly grown out of the leafy foliage. Fired in the glossy blue glaze of its namesake, the vase stands 6 tall is 2 7/8 at the base & tapers outward to a rim that is 4 across the top. Synonymous with these pieces are the drippy, uneven glaze along with a few glaze pops & a somewhat rough bottom which do not overtly detract from its pleasing presentation. The underside is incised with the style number of 127. It is in good condition & would make a wonderful stand alone decoration or as a nice addition to your art pottery collection.
