Vintage London Subway Underground Map - 1933 This is a reproduction of Harry Beck's 1933 Tube map. This world famous London Tube map was thought up by Underground electrical draughtsman, Harry Beck. Unlike most maps, which focus on emphasising distance & geographical accuracy, Beck based this map on the circuit diagrams he drew for his day job as an engineer. This method allowed him to reduce the Tube network down to a neat diagram of coloured & criss-crossing lines. Thought to be too radical by the publicity department, it was initially rejected. However, a trial wit the public showed it to be a success with the general public.
