A superb Art Deco period piece, a design that captures the opulence of the time. This iconic mirror has some great geometric shapes synonymous with quality Art Deco mirrors. This is a cloud design with striking sun beams. The seven silver mirrored sections are cut in a tapered shape with a round top. This gives the individual pieces a perspective of height & distance culminating with the billowing cloud design. Each piece is bevelled edged adding that finished touch. There are four peach mirrored sections set at angles between the lower cloud shape pieces. These represent the sun striking through the clouds, a design that is replicated on many original deco items. The four striking sun beams are cut in a tapering design & finish in a point. Each of these pieces have a bevelled edge too. The centre of the mirror is brought together with a circular bevelled edged silver mirror plate, tying the eleven sections into a central perspective. There are no chips or nibbles on any of the individual mirrored pieces & the points on the sun beam sections are all intact too. There is some minor foxing on the edge of the individual pieces, along with some small age related marks. There are a couple of light surface scratches & some misting (see pics). All the above are to be expected on a mirror of this age & none of the above detracts from the overall quality appearance of this iconic piece. The mirrored sections are mounted on a wooden backboard, Of the twelve sections that make up this mirror, eleven are held in place with traditional metal clips. The twelfth the centre section, is held in place with chrome capped screws, also securing the lower section of the other eleven pieces. Size: 90cm W x 61cm H.
