Heart - A Coastal Dream with Nurdles - Original Art work. Only small, but oh so pretty! This gorgeous heart has been made out of a colourful selection of teeny tiny coastal treasures, collected by myself on the many beaches I visit throughout the UK. The colours are simply dreamy. The heart is a kaleidoscope of texture & natural gorgeousness & includes only the prettiest of shells & coastal treasures. There are Periwinkles, Cockles, a Queeny Scallop & the most amazing Top Shells. There are Limpets, Striped Venus Shells, pink Tellins, Auger shells & Cowries. There are pieces of seaglass & sea urchin pieces in the most beautiful purple & orange & blue Mussel shells. Each of the treasures has been carefully selected because of their colour & beauty, all combining to create this beautiful heart. I combine each & every trip to the beach with a litter pick. There is so much plastic & so much litter on our beaches, it really makes me sad. I have also included a few little, bright-coloured pieces of micro plastics, that I have collecetd from beaches around the UK, within this heart. Most of the litter I collect is recycled & discarded, some of the more unusual items I keep & collect & some of the very small items I try to reuse within my artwork. It is my way of recycling & raising awareness of this terrible problem. Nurdles This heart is extra special because I have found a way to reuse some of the many many Nurdles that I have been collecting on our beaches here in the UK. Nurdles are tiny plastic pellets that are transported on shipping containers around the world. They are melted down to manufactuire plastic items. Many however, are spilled & get washed onto beaches. They are mistaken as food by marine animals & they are a terrible pollutant. Nurdles come in many different colours, some are bright green & blue & yellow, many are white & some are brown ... the colour of sand & therefore hard to spot. To make this heart I have reused 81 nurdles... turning something ugly into something beautiful & doing my small part to keep our beaches tidy. This heart was crafted with love & attention, choosing the perfect little beach finds, making sure that the colours & textures complement each other. All pieces are presented to you in their natural state, just how I found them on the beach. For this heart, I have selected as many different colours as possible & have chosen to mount all the treasures onto a light-blue background. All the seaside treasures complement each other perfectly, giving a real feel of seaside, sunshine, summer time, coast & beach life. I spend a long time laying out the treasures first, matching colours, shapes & sizes. Once I am happy with the overall design, each piece is then carefully glued into place. This is an original piece of Art work - no two pieces will ever be the same. This heart is a piece of art that would look lovely in any room of the house & would make a lovely gift for any seaside / beach lover. The white frame measures
