Silver plated round porringer bowl with yellow enamel center & fancy handle, made by WM A Rogers which is engraved on the base. This shallow porringer bowl would have been used to hold single serve meals like porridge for the family, possibly for a baby or child. Porringer bowls originate from medieval times where they were made out of wood, silver, pewter, or earthenware. Today porringer bowls are given as a christening gift. This bowl can be used as a trinket dish or a nut or candy bowl. Condition: The silver plated porringer bowl itself is in sound condition with darkening of the silver & light surface scratches on the base from use. However, the yellow enamel has a small tear or scratch in the center of the bowl & this allowed water to get under the enamel when it was cleaned. The water stain is noticeable under the enamel. Measures: 6 1/8 inches x 4 1/2 inches x 1 3/8 inches. All items ship insured from Coatesville, Pennsylvania, & I would love to combine shipping when you purchase more than one item.
