This vintage 1965 TWA Travel Poster for Washington, DC has never been used, NOT A REPODUCTION! This poster advertising flights to Washington, DC with an evening view of the the U.S. Capital Building & the Olmsted Fountain. This poster is in excellent condition. It has not faded or been torn, dog-eared or dimpled but has a very slight horizontal crease near the bottom. Once framed it should not be noticable. By all appearances this poster has been kept rolled up & in the dark. Year - 1965 Origin - Printed in USA Format & Size - 25x40 inches (64x102 cm) Condition - Very Fine Comments - Rolled, slight crease Note of interest: The view is of the looking across the Washington Canal to the west side of the U.S. Capital & one of the Olmsted Fountains. The Washington Canal had been on the west side of the U.S. Capital Building prior to the construction of the Capitol Reflecting Pool. The Capital Reflecting Pool, not to be confused with the larger Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, was completed in 1971. The Capital Reflecting Pool, initially envisioned in 1791, was included in master plans for the Washington Mall area prepared by the architectural firm of Skidmore, Owings, & Merrill (SOM) in the 1960s & 1970s to reduce vehicular traffic on the Mall & facilitate pedestrian & recreational use.
