Description
A blue transfer printed pottery soup plate in the Cowman pattern. This popular romantic transferware pattern in a beautiful deep rich blue shows a cow in the foreground with a man standing just behind a bank on the right under a tree. The plate was made c.1825, towards the end of the Georgian period, & is attributed to the Staffordshire firm of John & Willian Ridgway. The soup plate is 9.8 inches in diameter & weigh 470g. The plate is in very good condition. There is a very, very small nick to the rim at 7 o’clock. There is no other damage & no restoration. There is crazing to the glaze, as might be expected, & there are a few minor utensil marks. There is slight discolouration in some of the craze lines on the reverse of the plate Please consider these items are generally 50-200 years old, antique or vintage, & were made to differing manufacturing & quality standards to modern items. They have also been used & may show signs of that. Odd pinpricks & spots of kiln dirt in the glaze & other minor manufacturing flaws are not uncommon on china of this age - I can only mention those that I find the most noticeable. Please contact me if you need more detail on condition or further images. I will be happy to oblige. Combined shipping is possible on most items - if you need a combined shipping price before ordering please ask. With the varied size & weight of my items it cannot be done automatically. Two items can sometimes be shipped for little more than one. Any excess paid for postage & packing will be refunded.
