Etsy - RegencyCeramics Rogers Fallow Deer Pearlware Blue Transferware Soup Plate C.1820
Description
A beautifully potted pearlware soup plate by Rogers in the very attractive Fallow Deer pattern. The plate printed in a slightly grey-blue looks like it has hardly ever been used in its 200 year life. The plate has an impressed ROGERS mark & a pearlware body will date from c.1820. The pattern was later adopted by Wedgwood & printed in a slight deeper brighter blue. The plate is 9.4inches (24.4cm) in diameter & weighs 335g. The plate is in very good condition. There is a small chip to the inside of the footrim, no other damage & no restoration. There is a very small chip under the glaze between 11 & 12 o’clock & a dark line in the glaze at the junction of the rim & well around 10 & 11 o’clock – both minor manufacturing flaws. There are only a couple of extremely minor utensil marks & the plate rings like a bell when given a gentle ping. Please consider these items are generally 50-200 years old, antique or vintage, & were made to differing manufacturing & quality standards to modern items. They have also been used & may show signs of that. Odd pinpricks & spots of kiln dirt in the glaze & other minor manufacturing flaws are not uncommon on china of this age - I can only mention those that I find the most noticeable. Please contact me if you need more detail on condition or further images. I will be happy to oblige. Rogers Fallow Deer Pearlware Blue Transferware Soup Plate C.1820
