John William Waterhouse (6 April 1849 - 10 February 1917) was an English painter known for his depictions of women from both ancient Greek mythology & Arthurian legend. During the Renaissance period in Florence, Italy, it was common for artworks to be directly painted on to gilded wood - essentially a painting on wood - which was a core part of Catholic art. They might also be described as an antique painting, relic painting, gold leaf painting or rustic painting & were mainly religious artworks. Our pieces aim to recreate the look & feel of those religious antique relics using more modern techniques. Our wood art pieces are not gilded with real gold, instead we use imitation leaf to achieve an amazing finish at a very affordable price.
