The vinyl lettering placed on the surface of resin plates/ plaques/ discs may overtime peel away, dependent on temperature, duration, conditions the piece is kept in. Customers opt for a topcoat when gifting / wanting to keep an item as a keepsake/ highly durable. It ensures lettering is embedded in resin - preventing peeling. Is it necessary? A product without a glossy topcoat is still durable. However if you are hoping to keep your purchase for life/ gifting it... we advice the topcoat to make the memory last. How long does it take?
