Ready for my closeup We headed out as the sun rose near Lake Ndutu in Tanzania's Serengeti National Park. Here we were, surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of the African savannah. We set out early that morning, our rugged safari vehicle bouncing over the rough terrain as we searched for wildlife. The roads in Tanzania are like washboards. You need a real commitment to get somewhere to travel on these roads! The air was crisp & cool, & the grassy plains stretched out as far as the eye could see. I felt a sense of peace & serenity, as if I were part of this ancient & unspoiled land. As we drove on, we spotted a herd of zebras grazing in the distance. We watched as they moved together in perfect harmony, each one with his own unique pattern their fingerprints. No two alike. The Serengeti is a unique place where you can see thousands of zebras & wildebeests on their annual migration & of course, all of their predators & every other wild animal you can think of! But our luck was about to get even better. As we rounded a bend, we saw something that took our breath away. There, just a few yards away, stood a group of giraffes. They were majestic & beautiful, their long necks reaching up towards the sky. I couldn't believe how close we were able to get to them. You can be right up on a giraffe & not see them, their camouflage is that good. As we approached slowly, the giraffes looked back at us with curious eyes. They seemed unafraid & unbothered by our presence. It was as if they were inviting us to share in their peaceful & serene existence. I felt a deep sense of connection to these creatures, as if we were communicating on a spiritual level. I felt privileged & honored to be able to witness such a magnificent sight. I was filled with a sense of gratitude & wonder that words cannot even begin to describe. The giraffes were a reminder of the beauty & mystery of nature, & I knew that this moment would stay with me forever. It was a moment that I will treasure for the rest of my life.
