Felt pads on the bottoms Can also be used with pillar type candles - pics shown with 3 diameter pillar candle ( not included ) The outside of each holder has been distressed & weathered but is mostly smooth to the touch. There are possibly some rough spots & possibly a splinter or two since this is a handmade wooden product. Please use caution when handling. Wood has been stained & coated with multiple coats of polyurethane for long term durable protection Pics do not do justice to how unique these are - They are much nicer in person & are reminiscent of old weathered posts - without the splinters!
